Assoc. Prof. Valentina Markova, PhD is the Head of the Sensor Networks Laboratory at the Department of Communication Engineering and Technologies, Technical University of Varna.
She received the M.Sc. degree and the PhD. degree in Communication engineering from Faculty of Telecommunication, Technical University of Sofia, in 2002 and 2007, respectively. From 2007 to 2016, she was an assistant professor at Department of Communication Engineering and Technologies, Technical University of Varna. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computing and Automation, Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria.
Her research interests are in the area of Sensor Networks, Data Acquisition, Digital Signal Processing and their applications in Health and Environment monitoring. Currently, she oversees the development of web accessible biosignal repository of physiological data for the needs of advanced human machine interaction and healthcare applications.
She has participated in 15 national and international projects, funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund, Ministry of Education and Science, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, EU COST etc.
She co-authored over 60 scientific publications, three academic textbooks, and 2 edited volumes.
She is the Chair of the IEEE CASS Section Bulgaria and the Treasurer of the IEEE Bulgaria Section.
